Core Aeration
Full-lawn core aeration — plugs pulled across the entire turf area
Get on the ScheduleAeration + Overseeding
Core aeration plus a full overseed with turf-type tall fescue — starter fertilizer included
Get on the ScheduleBefore we come out: please have any sprinkler heads, invisible fence lines, and shallow utilities flagged. Aeration tines go 2–3" into the ground.
Two steps that work best together.
We pull thousands of soil plugs across your lawn, opening up compacted ground so air, water, and nutrients reach the roots.
Fresh turf-type tall fescue spread across the lawn, plus starter fertilizer to feed new seedlings. Seed settles into the open holes for real soil contact — that's where germination happens.
If you only do one thing for your lawn this year, this is it — and fall is the window.
New grass fills in the thin spots.
Fresh seed dropped into open aeration holes gives you a denser lawn next spring — not just a green one.
Compaction pulled out by the plug.
Our heavy clay soil packs down hard every summer. Core aeration physically removes plugs so roots have room to grow again.
Less runoff, deeper roots.
Instead of running off compacted ground, water and fertilizer reach the root zone where they do some good.
Turf-type tall fescue built for Kansas.
We use a blend chosen for our transition-zone summers — not the cheapest bag on the shelf.
Fall is the window that works.
Late August through October gives new seed warm soil and cool air to establish before winter. Spring seeding rarely survives our summer.

What happens next is up to you — and one thing matters more than everything else combined.
Crucial — don't skip this
This is the whole ballgame. Grass seed only germinates while it's consistently moist — and once a seed starts to sprout and then dries out, it dies and it does not come back. A lawn that gets watered and one that doesn't are two completely different results from the same job.
Water lightly every day for the first two weeks — enough to keep the top inch damp, twice a day if it's hot or windy. Short and frequent beats one long soak, which just runs off and carries seed with it. After you see germination, back off to less frequent, deeper watering.
Those soil plugs on your lawn break down on their own in 2–3 weeks. Don't rake them up — they're feeding the lawn back.
Mow at 3–4" and hold off on weed control until new grass has been mowed a few times — herbicide kills baby grass too.
The crew did a great job! They were able to come within the same day of the request and had all of the leaves cleaned up in less than 30 minutes or so! Very appreciative of their work.

Prompt response and very punctual in completing the work requested. Cayden was extremely helpful in squeezing the job in on the Holiday week of Thanksgiving. Highly recommend the lawn service!!!

My mower needed servicing, and Sommer Lawn was recommended. I'm sticking with them through the rest of the year! Saves me a lot of time every week, and I love the sharp edging.
